What is this wiki about?
Here on io55's Esoteric Devices Wiki, you'll find a lot about the obscure and esoteric in technology, from digital photo frames to video game systems. If you like the idea of Linux running on your TI nSpire, or NetBSD running on your Dreamcast, then this wiki is for you.
Our wiki features hundreds of interesting ports like those, and much more. A web browser running on an old GPS? Emulators running on a PDA? That is what our wiki is about, and we have a lot of it.
For years, we have seen coders and hackers create tons of interesting programs. Yet, it's all scattered across the internet. It's almost impossible to find all of it in one place. Our goal at the Esoteric Devices Wiki is to solve this problem.
We also have extended this philosophy to the models and revisions of devices, namely game consoles. In collaboration with the excellent ConsoleMods.org, io55 has documented the pressing models and revisions of every major video game system released to date. In the future, we will also help you figure out which of these models are best for you to buy, with our own buying guides. Calculators, GPSes, and all the game consoles.
There's a lot more that io55 plans in the future, including a whole YouTube channel serving to show off the obscure at an even deeper level. For now, though, enjoy the wiki!
