This is an old revision of the document!

Other Texas Instruments Calculators

Texas Instruments 73

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

Calcsys

Some sort of “system program” that features a hex editor, disassembler, port monitor, etc. akin to KnightOS’ features.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/196/19619.html

KnightOS
the pieces of KnightOS are maintained as separate projects under the KnightOS organization

Compatible with the TI-73. The most recent versions may support USB upload from PC, allowing this to effectively completely replace the original calculator OS.

https://knightos.org/

https://github.com/KnightOS/KnightOS (git most recent & USB, but compile difficult)

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/463/46387.html (precompiled, NO USB!!)

Mallard

The only ASM shell for the TI-73 w/ dedicated programs, unless you want to count Swan or KnightOS. Has two versions, 0.2 and 0.3, with 0.3 apparently being just a test.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/366/36618.html (0.2, for TI-OS 1.6)

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/388/38805.html (0.3, for all TI-OSes?)

Swan

A flash shell that can run Mallard programs. Little information about appearances.

Texas Instruments 81

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

“Windows”

What even is this? The TI-81 has no way to communicate with a PC.

Texas Instruments 82

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

Ace, Ash, CrASH, JASS, OS-82
BacOS

Whatever this is, it has no information.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/50/5010.html

Cabinet OS ME

Allows organization of files, apparently.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/182/18213.html

DOS
Windows TI v4.1

Imitates Windows, with a start menu, cursor, and programs slots.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/92/9293.html

OS-97 v1.0

Like Windows TI, except no fancy GUI, it seems.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/1/187.html

OS-9X v1.2

Appears to be imitating a Powershell prompt of some sort.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/1/191.html

TI Windows 98

A more fancy imitation, because it has a mock Windows logo. The usual “Start” menu and nothing else…

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/76/7648.html

Windows 2000 (82)

Yet again, imitating Windows with a Start menu and nothing else. This time, it has built in programs.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/148/14868.html

Windows 95
82 Windows 95

Revolutionary, because it has icons on the desktop, plus little buttons where the clock would usually be.

Internet

Mbus

Requires CrASH. Enables I2C and Networking; to what extent is unknown.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/109/10999.html

Texas Instruments 84+ CE

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

Cesium

A colorful launching shell with various interfacing supports, such as file renaming.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/465/46574.html

Console emulation (potential)

Whether these emulators support operating systems for these consoles is unknown; it must be looked into further. Consoles without meaningful OSes are not included.

Nintendo Entertainment System – NES84

Nintendo Game Boy (no Color) – Ti-Boy CE 0.1.3

PC emulation (potential)

Whether these emulators support operating systems for these computers is unknown; it must be looked into further. PCs without meaningful OSes are not included.

CHIP-8/SuperCHIP – Chip84CE, Chip-84

RetardOS

Internet

Ti-Mail Calculator Email Client

Whether this can interface with POP/IMPP email servers is unknown, but it seems to imply it can.

Texas Instruments 84+ CSE

Operating Systems (Zilog Z80)

Console emulation (potential)

Whether these emulators support operating systems for these consoles is unknown; it must be looked into further. Consoles without meaningful OSes are not included.

Nintendo Game Boy (no Color) – Ti-Boy CSE

https://www.omnimaga.org/ti-boy-se-game-boy-emulator-for-ti-83se84/official-ti-boy-cse-alpha-thread/

Doors CSE 8.2

The CSE enhanced version of the classic Doors shell. Probably the fanciest looking of all the versions. Supports various interesting options.

https://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/456/45670.html

KnightOS
the pieces of KnightOS are maintained as separate projects under the KnightOS organization

Similarly compatible with the CSE. The most recent versions may support USB upload from PC, allowing this to effectively completely replace the original calculator OS.
